No! This is a plant-based bar of soap that does not contain any of the harsh ingredients of conventional soap, which can leave your skin feeling clean but dry and stripped. Our soaps are primarily made of hydrating oils like olive, coconut, and avocado.
Triple-milling, or French milling, is a process that creates a very firm, lasting, uniform bar of soap that won’t get gummy and lose its potency of fragrance or sudsing ability like some handmade bars are prone to. It’s also less prone to cracking and drying out. After the soap ingredients are mixed, they get passed through smooth stainless steel rollers. Then, it is pushed through three metal mesh screens (hence the triple milling name). It looks like pushing playdough through a press in a way, and this process forces out excess water, creating that sturdy, good-looking bar of soap at the other end.
The bars of soap are both plant-based and triple-milled. The ingredients and ratios are slightly different, but overall it's the scent and packaging of the bars of soap that differ. The Hinoki Bar has the same essential oil fragrance as our best-selling Hinoki Body Oil and Hinoki Body Wash; a sublime blend of Japanese Hinoki, Siberian Fir and Cedarwood extracts. The Two Deserts soap is wrapped in a simplistic, eco-friendly PCR paper wrapper. The Hinoki Bar has all the bells and whistles: a gold foiled wax wrapper around the bar of soap, tucked inside a gilded, textured paper box. We love to travel with the Hinoki Bar, nestling it back in its box and bringing it on the road. It makes for an extremely easy, crowd-pleasing gift!
