FAQ
Our recommended routine: Cleanse with our Seaweed Body Scrub, which contains sea salt as an exfoliant, 1—3 times per week. Follow it up with applying Hinoki Body Oil from neck to toes for extremely soft, clean, and hydrated skin.
Compared to the skin on your face, your body has a much slower cell turnover, which continues to slow down as you age. This means that dead skin can linger longer, making your skin feel dull and dry, and can clog pores on more sensitive areas (chest and back, for example). Exfoliation is a great way to kick start this turnover, revealing brighter, smoother skin. Our products use manual (also called physical) exfoliation, which simply means using the gentle grit of botanical powders and plant-based ingredients to buff away dead skin. Other forms of exfoliation are chemical or enzyme, which we find to be too disruptive to our sensitive, hard-working microbiome.
Body scrubs exfoliate dead skin cells and buildup, help detoxify, boost circulation, and soften skin.
We recommend exfoliating after showering or bathing and using soap or body wash. This ensures your skin is clean and prepped for exfoliation, and the warm water ensures your skin is damp and soft.
We recommend 1 - 3x per week adding a gentle, manual exfoliation to your routine to help encourage cell turnover and address dry, dull, or rough skin. It is also important to note that we are using a manual or physical exfoliant for our Seaweed Body Scrub, the key exfoliating ingredient is sea salt - not harsh chemicals or enzymes that can be damaging to your skin’s barrier. Sea salt helps fight acne-causing bacteria and restores the skin’s natural pH balance. It provides your skin with vitamins and minerals while offering the perfect grit for a detoxifying exfoliation that helps improve circulation
